A group of Dutch artists will be returning to Portland for their 8th year to carve large stone sculptures between 26 August and 6 September 2009.

Collectively known as Groep 85, the artists will take up residency in Tout Quarry for 10 days where they have created a circle of stones with a stone table and carved chairs at the centre. They have regenerated the former council refuse site into an area of Jurassic life with creatures emerging from large boulders of cap stone.     

There will be an open day and gathering on 2 – 5pm on 5 September 09 to meet the artists, view their work. There will be music and an opportunity to try your hand at carving.

Entry to Tout Quarry and the public opening is free of charge.
